Darvin Moon, the runner up in the 2009 World Series of Poker Main Event, is hosting his own poker challenge. The tournament will not occur until the change of the calendar and it will be held in the same casino where he won a satellite event that propelled him to the World Series of Poker. The challenge will occur from January 14-18 and will be held at the Wheeling Island Hotel and Casino. TheĀ  challenge will feature four no-limit Hold’em tournaments that have buy-ins ranging from $125-$550.

The top 20 finishers of all four events will be awarded points. Those points will determine who will face off with Moon for a pot that adds $2,000 to the money already in it. The person who earns the most points throughout the four events will get to face Moon. The poker room at the hotel and casino will also be hosting various satellites during the challenge, with one of them being a $130 World Series of Poker Super Satellite.

Moon used a $130 World Series of Poker Super Satellite to finish second behind the tournament’s winner, 21 year old Joe Cada. Moon took home $5,182,601. Moon hails from Western Maryland and works as a logger. The Wheeling Island Hotel and Casino is located in West Virginia but was originally opened as a thoroughbred and harness racing site in 1866. The site now holds table games, slots, a poker room, video lottery terminals, a full service hotel, banquet rooms and restaurants. It has not been announced if Moon will be in attendance for the entire tournament or just the final round.
