Poker fans and players alike are fans of statistics. Stats let us know who is on top who has lost their glory and what rising stars are out there. Now the folks over at Federated Sports have created an online up to date database that tracks real time scores of the top 300 players in the world. Concentrating on live tournament results, the database will be called the Global Poker Index or GPI.
The GPI website is already up and running and this week's top ten players are posted on the homepage. Jason Mercier is ranked number one in the world with a score of 2459.89. Vanessa Selbst brings up the rear at number ten with a score of 2011.05. The scores or ratings take into account a number of different factors. These include the field size, the finishing place as well as the buy in for each tournament over the last 36 month period.
Here's the full top ten list:
- Jason Mercier---2459.89
- Bertrand Grospellier---2446.83
