Running poker tournaments out of your own home removes the stress associated with playing the game in front of thousands of people at a crowded casino. When running a home poker tournament you can pick and choose who to invite into the game. This makes it easier to deal with the players and keep tabs on everyone playing the game. Here we will discuss the most important tips when it comes to running a home poker tournament.

Everyone running a poker tournament will need a variety of supplies to run the tournamnet effectively. Those supplies include a poker table, two decks of cards, poker chips, a dealer button and a poker timer. Have a list of what beats what in a game of poker handy if the tournament involves beginners. Also, it wouldn’t hurt to have some snacks on hand and adult beverages on hand for the players to indulge in during the tournament.

The next step is to decide how much the buy-in will cost. The buy-in is also known as the entry fee. This money will be used to help pay for whatever snacks and drinks are at the tournament and the remainder of the money will go into the pot for the winner to claim. The entry fee can cost whatever you want it to cost, it doesn’t matter.

Once the equipment has been acquired and the entry fee has been determined then the game should be explained to the players and the dealing should be performed. Before the cards are dealt the group should decide which player will be the dealer during the tournament.
